Modi Honored with Mauritius National Award on Mauritius National Day

Port Louis: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the top Mauritian national award, 'The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean,' presented to him for his distinguished contributions to bilateral relations. 

Expressing gratitude for the award, he dedicated it to 140 crore people of India and spoke of centuries-old friendship between the two countries while attending Mauritius National Day celebrations as guest of honor for the second occasion. 

By virtue of the present award conferred on PM Modi by Mauritius for distinguished contribution towards bilateral relations, this becomes the 21st international award that he has received. This also makes him the first Indian civilizational representative to have been granted that honor, further hinting at the incalculable cultural and historical ties binding Mauritius with India

Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam stated that only a handful of foreign dignitaries have had the honour conferred upon them and stated that Nelson Mandela is one of its past recipients.Scores of international awards given to PM Modi reflect India's widening global horizon and strengthened diplomatic relations with other states. 

Other international accolades awarded to him, including the 'Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer' granted to him by Kuwait and the 'Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour' given by France, establish him beyond peer as a world leader.
